The Mala always contains the mystical 108 beads, the number signifies the unit and wholeness of life. Harmony & Protection Mala - The Red, White and Black are Symbols of Tri Datu - the three harmonies of life. Red is in harmony with the gods. White is linked to harmony with fellow humans and Black is connected to harmony with the earth. Many Balinese believe that wearing the Tri Datu can provide spiritual strength and protect them from negative influence and bad energy. Note the three-colour tassel.
