Description

These four hand‑carved Bali mushrooms are carved from teak root and presented on a natural teak root base. Each piece is crafted by Indonesian artists and showcases the organic textures and grain unique to root wood. The eroded finish gives the mushrooms a weathered, rustic character ideal for natural or bohemian interiors.

Because these ornaments are hand made from root wood, no two pieces are the same; colour, grain and surface texture will vary. Sizes and weights are approximate due to the unique nature of the timber, so please expect slight differences from the photograph.

This compact set works well as a tabletop or shelf ornament, bringing a tactile, sculptural accent to living rooms, studies or conservatories. The small footprint means it can sit beside books, plants or other natural features without overwhelming the space.

  • Authentic hand‑carving: Each mushroom is individually carved by Indonesian artisans, offering a distinctive, craftsman‑made look that mass‑manufactured items cannot match.
  • Natural teak root material: The use of teak root creates an irregular, characterful surface with attractive grain and organic shapes that age gracefully over time.
  • Versatile styling: The eroded finish and compact dimensions suit rustic, coastal, boho and contemporary interiors as a subtle sculptural accent.
  • Low maintenance display: Its small size and solid construction make it an easy, long‑lasting decorative piece for tabletops, shelves and mantelpieces.

FAQs

How should I clean and dust a teak root wood ornament?

Regular dusting with a soft, dry cloth or a soft‑bristled brush will keep the piece looking its best. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth, wipe gently and dry immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid soaking the wood or using abrasive cleaners or household chemicals that can strip natural oils and alter the finish.

Can I use oil or polish on my teak root sculpture?

You can refresh the wood with a light application of natural oil (for example, teak oil) if it appears dry, but always test on an inconspicuous area first. Apply sparingly, rub in with a soft cloth and wipe away any excess. Avoid heavy waxes or silicone‑based polishes which may leave residues or change the surface appearance.

How can I reduce the risk of cracking or splitting in solid teak root pieces?

Keep the sculpture away from direct heat sources such as radiators or fireplaces and avoid placing it in very damp or constantly wet locations. Maintain reasonably stable indoor humidity and temperature; extreme dryness or rapid changes can lead to cracking. Occasional light oiling can help maintain the wood’s moisture balance and longevity.
