This small glass sculpture pairs a hand‑blown glass bowl with a natural teak root base to create a piece of functional artwork. The bowl is moulded onto individually selected root pieces so each item has its own character and grain. The removable bowl and organic base create a striking contrast between smooth glass and textured wood.
Every piece is handcrafted, so appearance, grain and exact measurements will vary. Sizes and weights are approximate due to the unique nature of the materials and the hand-finishing process. The small scale makes it ideal for display on a side table, shelf or mantel where it can be appreciated up close.
The glass is not suitable for use with heat sources or candles; sudden temperature changes can damage hand‑blown glass. Treat the teak root as a natural decorative base: avoid prolonged exposure to strong sunlight or extreme humidity to preserve the wood’s appearance and stability.
Because each sculpture is a hand-assembled combination of glass and natural root, occasional surface variations, small fissures in the root or minor differences in bowl shape are an intentional part of the design and add to the piece’s individuality.
Remove the glass bowl from the root before cleaning. Use warm water with a mild detergent and a soft, lint‑free cloth or sponge to gently clean the glass. Avoid abrasives and scouring pads, which can scratch the surface. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a soft cloth to prevent watermarks. Do not use heat to dry or to sterilise the bowl.
Dust the teak root regularly with a soft, dry cloth or a soft brush to remove dirt from crevices. Wipe with a barely damp cloth for occasional cleaning, then dry immediately to avoid trapped moisture. Keep the piece away from prolonged direct sunlight and very damp or very dry environments to reduce the risk of splitting or warping.
Do not place candles or any other heat source in or on the glass bowl; the product is not designed for heat exposure. Avoid placing the sculpture on surfaces near radiators or direct sunlight that can heat the glass. Sudden temperature changes can cause the hand‑blown glass to crack, so always handle and display it away from heat.
