Introduce a piece of functional artwork to your home with this glass sculpture. A hand‑blown glass bowl is cleverly moulded onto an individually selected teak root, creating the impression that the glass is melting into the wood in a striking, Dali‑style manner. The glass bowl is removable for careful cleaning and display.
Each example is hand crafted and therefore unique: grain, colour and shape of the teak root will vary and every glass bowl will have its own subtle differences. Because of the organic nature of the materials, all sizes and weights are approximate and no two pieces are exactly the same.
This sculpture is intended for decorative use only. It must not be used with any heat source or candles. Keep away from high temperature exposure to prevent stress on the glass and potential damage to the wood.
At a compact 25 cm overall, this piece makes a striking centrepiece for a dining table, mantel or sideboard. The removable bowl lets you refresh arrangements, display seasonal ornaments or simply clean the glass without moving the whole root base.
Remove the glass bowl before cleaning (the bowl is designed to be removable). Wash it gently by hand in warm water with a mild detergent, using a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a lint‑free cloth to avoid water marks. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads and prevent sudden temperature changes which can stress hand‑blown glass.
Dust the teak root regularly with a soft, dry cloth or a soft‑bristled brush to remove debris from crevices. Keep the piece out of prolonged direct sunlight and away from heat sources or very damp conditions to prevent cracking or warping. If the wood looks dry, you may occasionally apply a light coat of a natural wood oil or wax formulated for teak, following the manufacturer's instructions and testing on an inconspicuous area first.
This product is decorative and not designed to withstand heat. Direct heat from candles or similar sources can cause the glass to expand unevenly and crack, and can scorch or dry out the teak root, compromising its appearance and stability. To preserve both the glass and the wood, do not expose the piece to flames or high temperatures.
