Description

Beautifully hand-made in Ubud, Bali by a small family business, this Bali Sun Parasol is a ceremonial-style outdoor parasol hand-carved, hand-printed, hand-woven and hand-painted for a unique finish. The parasol has a 2 metre span and a jointed pole for compact storage.

Please note this listing is for the parasol only; the base is not included. The pole is jointed using a high-quality metal screw fitting designed to be longer lasting and more secure than simple wooden peg joints, making the parasol easier to open, close and store.

These parasols are not waterproofed and colour variation is to be expected because each piece is made in small batches with hand-applied gold print. To minimise bleaching from the sun and protect the finish, we recommend using a good quality UV and weatherproof parasol cover when the parasol is not in use.

Always store the parasol completely dry to avoid mould. Spot clean gently with mild soap and cool water where necessary, and allow the fabric to dry fully before folding and storing.

  • Hand-crafted in Bali: Each parasol is individually carved, printed, woven and painted by a small family workshop in Ubud for authentic character and traditional detailing.
  • Durable jointed pole: Metal screw-joint construction provides a more secure and longer-lasting connection than simple peg systems, making opening and storage smoother.
  • Decorative and sizeable: A 2m span gives generous shade and creates a striking focal point in gardens, patios or event spaces with its mint green fabric and gold detailing.
  • Protective care guidance: Because the parasol is not waterproofed, using a UV/weatherproof cover and storing only when completely dry will prolong colours and prevent mould.
  • Natural variation: Hand-applied gold print will vary between items, so every parasol has its own distinctive appearance and artisan charm.
  • Simple maintenance: Gentle spot cleaning and thorough drying are all that’s normally needed to keep the fabric looking its best.

FAQs

How should I clean the parasol fabric without damaging the hand-painted or gold details?

For routine cleaning, brush off loose dust and debris with a soft brush. For spots, use a mild, non-bleaching soap diluted in cool water and gently dab the area with a soft cloth. Avoid vigorous scrubbing or harsh chemicals that could remove hand-applied gold print or damage the painted finish. Do not saturate the fabric; rinse lightly if needed and allow the parasol to dry fully in the open air before folding and storing.

How can I reduce sun bleaching and protect the parasol's colours over time?

To minimise fading from prolonged sun exposure, close the parasol when not in active use and keep it covered with a good quality UV and weatherproof parasol cover. Rotate usage if possible so the same areas aren't constantly exposed and avoid leaving the parasol open in full sun for long periods when unattended. Regular covering and sensible storage will extend the life of the fabric and gold detailing.

What is the best way to store the parasol to prevent mould and mildew?

Always ensure the parasol is completely dry before folding and storing. Damp fabric can trap moisture and lead to mould; leave the canopy open until any wet spots evaporate. Store in a dry, ventilated place and use a breathable cover rather than an airtight container. If mould does appear, address it promptly with gentle cleaning and thorough drying to prevent spread.
