Description

This distinctive forest sculpture is hand carved from teak tree roots by skilled Indonesian artisans. Each piece is sculpted individually, so no two are the same – natural grain, knots and contours form the character of every sculpture.

Standing at approximately 100–120 cm high, this small root sculpture makes an immediate statement in a hallway, living room or garden. Its organic form suits both indoor and outdoor settings, adding a rustic, sculptural focal point.

Because each sculpture is formed from reclaimed root timber, sizes and appearance will vary. The unique nature of the material means dimensions are approximate and the finish can differ from the image shown.

The Forest Sculpture Range is also offered in a large H 160 cm and a mini H 60 cm, allowing you to choose the scale that best fits your space and design scheme.

  • Artisan hand-carving Each sculpture is individually sculpted by craftsmen in Indonesia, giving a one‑of‑a‑kind look that can’t be replicated by mass production.
  • Natural teak root material Solid teak root brings rich grain and natural weathering properties, offering long-term character both indoors and outdoors when cared for.
  • Flexible display options Its organic silhouette works as a standalone feature in a garden or as an interior statement piece, bridging rustic and contemporary interiors.
  • Varied sizing available Choose from mini (approx H 60 cm), small (approx H 100–120 cm) or large (H 160 cm) to suit different spaces and sightlines.
  • Low-maintenance focal point With straightforward periodic cleaning and protection, the sculpture retains its natural beauty and is simple to maintain over time.

FAQs

How should I clean a teak root sculpture?

Use a soft brush or cloth to remove loose dirt and dust. For deeper cleaning, wipe with a damp cloth using clean water only, then dry thoroughly with a soft towel. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or high‑pressure washing, as these can strip natural oils and damage the wood’s surface.

Can I leave a teak root sculpture outside year-round?

Teak root is naturally durable, but prolonged exposure to extreme weather can cause cracking or surface changes. To prolong life outdoors, place the sculpture on a raised base to avoid ground moisture, avoid constant saturation, and consider occasional protective treatments such as teak oil or a breathable wood preservative suitable for solid wood. Reapply treatments only after the wood is clean and fully dry.

Will applying oil or treatments change the appearance of the wood?

Yes. Applying teak oil or other wood treatments can deepen the colour and enrich the grain, making the sculpture look more saturated and enhancing its natural tones. Test any treatment on a small, inconspicuous area first and follow manufacturer instructions; allow the sculpture to dry fully between applications to avoid tackiness or residue.
